1. Clarification of Prices
for MCSA Courses
There has been some confusion about the
correct price of Boot Camps for MCSA certification.
Initially
the MCSA Boot Camp was introduced at a reduced
price of £2,995 because it was new, but
this introductory offer has now ended and the
full price for this course is as follows:

2. Steps to IT Certification
Part 3: IT
Fast Start - "Zero to Hero"
There are many routes to professional IT certification
and experienced IT professionals can usually jump
straight in to whichever course is needed to gain
their preferred certification. However,
less experienced people may need to take a number
of steps to achieve their ultimate goal. This
continues a series of articles explaining what
those steps are.
This month we look at routes
to Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer - MCSE
Certification for IT Staff starting from scratch.
If you
want to break into IT or you are an IT Professional
in need of a career boost, then the "Zero
to Hero MCSE track" is for you. Nineteen
days of intensive Boot Camp training - combined
with self-study and mentoring support. This is
your best way to become an MCSE from scratch -
with a GUARANTEED PASS, whatever your starting
level.
The only
pre-requisites are a willingness to work hard
and the ambition to succeed.
However,
as stated previously, novices and beginners ought
to start with the European Computer Driving
Licence - ECDL which is an internationally
recognised certificate of IT competence in the
use of computer skills.
More
information and courses for ECDL...
The first
step to MCSE is to obtain CompTIA A+ and
Network+ Certifications. Together, these
count as one elective exam towards Microsoft
Certified Systems Administrator - MCSA Certification.
The next step is to take the remaining
exams to obtain the MCSA certification
and then finally to take the exams to upgrade
it to MCSE.
IT Fast-Start is structured so
that you pass a new certification with every Boot
Camp week. However, you do not need to take all
four weeks at once - you're free to spread them
over 12 months and put your new-found skills into
practice in between.
You'll pass:
- A+ and Network+ after 1 week
- MCP after 2 weeks
- MCSA after 3 weeks
- MCSE after 4 weeks
|
A+
and Network+ Certifications
are CompTIA (Computing
Technology Industry Association) sponsored
testing programmes that certify the competency
of entry level computer service technicians
and network support and administration staff.
They are backed by major computer hardware
& software vendors, distributors &
resellers including Microsoft.
A+ was described
in our previous Newsletter
- Issue 2003/2.
The Network+
programme certifies the knowledge of networking
professionals with at least 9 months of
experience in network support and administration.
It includes:
- Network
Cables & Devices
- Network
Protocols
- Operating
Systems
- Server
Support
- Network
Design and Implementation
- Network
Maintenance
and involves
taking one exam - N10-002.
The
quickest and surest way to achieve these
certifications is to take our:

3. Recommended Training for
Cisco Support Staff
We have
been asked by a number of people to recommend
Cisco training for IT support staff where an organisation
is making the move to Cisco networking.
If
your IT support staff have a basic grounding in
networking basics, but are not familiar with Cisco
technology, then the best approach might be to
train them up to the CCNA standard first and then
progress to CCNP and CCSP as required.
|
CCNA
or Cisco Certified Networking Associate
certifies foundation level knowledge of
networking. CCNA certified professionals
can install, configure and operate LAN,
WAN and dial access services for small networks,
(i.e. up to 100 nodes), including but not
limited to use of IP, IGRP, Serial, Frame
Relay, IP RIP, VLANs, RIP, Ethernet, Access
Lists.
Candidates
are required to pass one exam (640-607)
while there are no pre-requisites.
We have
the following courses available for CCNA:

need one exam voucher for this at an additional
cost of £ 105 + VAT.

certification.
|
| CCNP
or Cisco Certified Networking Professional
certifies advanced level knowledge
of networks. CCDP indicates that a network
professional can install, configure and operate
LAN, WAN and dial access services for organisations
with from 100 to more than 500 network nodes,
including but not limited to IP, IGRP, IPX,
Async. Routing, AppleTalk, Extended Access
Lists, IP RIP, Route Redistribution, RIP,
Route Summarization, OSPF, VLSM, BGP, Serial,
Frame Relay, ISDN, ISL, X.25, DDR, PSTN, PPP,
VLANs, Ethernet, Access Lists, 802.10, FDDI,
Transparent and Translational Bridging.
Candidates
are required to pass four exams, or alternatively
pass one Foundation Exam (encompassing three
normal exams) plus one troubleshooting support
exam. Valid CCNA certification is
a pre-requisite.
We have
the following courses available for CCNP:
Complete
Cisco CCNP Boot Camp WT0203B at £
5,995 + VAT
This
package includes a comprehensive self study
kit, allocation of an experienced certification

|
| CCSP
or Cisco Certified Security Professional certifies
that a network professional professional has
the skills to design and implement Cisco secure
networks. CCSP holders will be actively involved
in developing business solutions and designing
and delivering multiple levels of security
departments.
Candidates
are required to pass five exams.
Valid CCNA certification is a pre-requisite.
We have
the following course available for CCNP:
