1. LearnFlow & Fast Track Certification

2. Microsoft Office 2003 Certification

New CBT courses from Thomson NETg are now available for Microsoft Office 2003, see below for details.

As with earlier versions of Office, Microsoft continue with the Microsoft Office Specialist certifications - MOS. However, there are a few changes in the certification scheme as follows:

3. MCDST Courses

Microsoft's new MCDST certification was described in our November 2003 Newsletter, and we can now report that Microsoft has released the final exams 70-271 & 70-272.

We are currently waiting for courses for MCDST to become available from Thomson NETg and Wave Technologies.

However, in the meantime we can arrange for Instructor Led Training for MCDST using a Microsoft Certified Technical Education Centre (CTEC) based in Bath, London or Manchester. The cost for this 5 day course is £ 1,550 + VAT, but group discounts and on-site training options are also available.

6. Career Development Loans

Career Development Loans or CDLs are deferred repayment bank loans to help you fund up to two years of education.

In brief, with a Career Development Loan:

• You can borrow between £300 to £8,000.

• You can use it to pay for up to 80% of the cost of your course fees, and you can also use it for associated qualifying expenses and costs.

• During the course and for one month afterwards the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) pays the interest on the loan.

• You won't start your repayments until two months after the end of your course.

• You can repay over a period between 1 and 5 years.

• Your repayments are fixed when the loan is agreed and remain the same throughout the period of the loan.

To qualify you must live or intend to do your training in the UK and work in the UK, European Union or within the European Economic Area after your education has finished.

CDLs are available through three high street banks: Barclays, The Co-operative and The Royal Bank of Scotland.
